Working Principle

The transmitter measures the difference between high-side pressure  and low-side pressure

Open Tank: The low-side port is vented to the atmosphere, and the high-side port is connected to the bottom of the tank. The transmitter measures the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid, which is proportional to the level.

Closed Tank: The high-side port is connected to the bottom (wet leg), and the low-side port is connected to the top of the tank (dry or wet leg) to compensate for vessel pressure.
